This newly-launched online program is fully accredited and recognized as a component of the School of Pharmacy’s online M.S. in Dietary Supplements and Medical Cannabis, which was announced in 2023.
Credits earned from this one-year certificate program can be applied toward the online master's program, offering an easy transition to advanced education.

Dietary Supplements Certificate Curriculum
This fully online certificate features classes that explore:
- Subjects such as natural products, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology.
- Research and development.
- Analytical techniques.
- Policy and formulation in the dietary supplements and in the dietary supplement industry.
Fall and Spring term courses are completed in 6 weeks, while the Summer term course is completed in 4
With one required course, students choose three of the remaining four courses to tailor the program to their goals:
- BMS 652 Regulation of Dietary Supplements, First Fall (Required)
- BMS 653 Formulation and Manufacturing of Dietary Supplements, Second Fall
- BMS 651 Fundamentals of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, First Spring
- BMS 654 Identification and Authentication of Dietary Ingredients, Second Spring
- BMS 655 Pharmacology and Toxicology of Dietary Supplements, First Summer
Admission
Selection for admission into the online Certificate in Dietary Supplements will be based upon the following admission requirements:
- Grade-Point Average: A cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 during the last 66 hours of undergraduate course work on college transcripts. At least 22 hours of coursework must be in the basic or applied sciences. Programmatic pre-requisites are classes in chemistry and biology; however, work experience can substitute for the courses.
- Personal Statement: A personal statement of career goals, preparation and readiness for graduate school, and motivational factors related to pursuing graduate study in dietary supplements and medical cannabis.
- Letters of References: At least two letters of recommendation from professional and/or academic references.

Transition to the Online M.S. in Dietary Supplements and Cannabis Program
Students who complete the online Graduate Certificate can apply their 12 hours earned from certificate courses toward our online M.S. in Dietary Supplements and Cannabis degree.
Once admitted to the master's program, students will need to meet all remaining requirements for the M.S. degree.
